This weekend was spent in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park enjoying the snow, the views, the sounds of young families having fun, and some quality me time.

I had my GNTLMN x Strawfoot Handmade Tote Bag in tow and was pleased to see how well it has been developing it’s own identity through use and age. The waxed canvas gets better looking at it gets more beat up, the vegetable tanned leather changes colors and increases in softness, and the shape of the tote forms to it’s use.

Here’s to hoping for a bit more snow around these parts soon. - Wesley

GNTLMN Travel Log - Cold Spring,  NY - Part 2

Cold Spring is roughly an hour and 5 minutes north of New York City, and accessible by Metro North straight from Grand Central Station. Upon arrival there is a quaint 1 mile walk through the town, and out to one of several trails, including the Washburn Trail that took us for a scenic 5 mile loop around Mt. Taurus.

More in Part 1.

GNTLMN Travel Log - Cold Spring,  NY - Part 1

New York City has a way of keeping it’s citizens locked inside of a virtual FOMO prison, fortified by the illusion that it’s awfully tough to leave without a car.

But with just the littlest of efforts, one can get away and take gorgeous carless day trips, finding unbridled nature only slightly over an hour outside the city. A quick train from Grand Central took us to Cold Spring, NY. We enjoyed hiking, small town burgers, winter ales, bourbon, and most of all the company of friends. Friends doing great things with their lives.

Part two here.

Food & Wine, one of my favorite magazines, recently posted a great article on ten of the best plates of food that are to be had in Nashville, TN. Since I have an upcoming trip to Nashville on the calendar for early March I hurried over to F&W’s Foursquare account, only to find they don’t turn these great pieces into lists. So I couldn’t help but take their tips and turn them into a list on our GNTLMN Foursquare account to save to my phone for when I am there. - Wesley

At GNTLMN we focus on creating new and lasting products that are timeless in their aesthetic. Products that have real utilitarian value, and fit in our lives equally well 60 years ago, right this moment, or 60 years from now.

While we respect heritage and vintage, we are more inspired by timeless values and style  that works across eras.

Our friend Laurel Linton shared a great example of a timeless look when she posted this beautiful photo of her great grandparents Ponnie and Ewel, sitting by the Louisville Water Works Reservoir in 1920. Their sense of fashion was relevant then, as it is now. On Ewel we see the classic two button black suit, a white collared shirt, handsome dress boots. Ponnie wears an elegant top and dress that would look equally beautiful on her great grand-daughter Laurel almost 100 years later. Now that’s timeless.

The talented Helena Price took some photos of yours truly in Prospect Park after a brunch that included just enough wine to turn my usual “blue steel” into “pensive thinker deciding whether “OB4CL” or “Liquid Swords” is the better solo album to come out of the Wu Tang Clan”. - Wesley

PS Uniqlo tweed blazer, Aubin & Wills scarf, army surplus beanie, Crockett & Jones boots, Moscot frames, J.Crew oxford shirt, vintage leather belt from a London flea market, Uniqlo jeans and cardigan.
